2024 Toyota Tacoma Hybrid – The new fourth generation Toyota Tacoma could be the most anticipated new truck to arrive in the next few years. A lot of people love the Tacoma – sales have always been strong and the midsize truck is more popular than ever. The build quality of the Tacoma is huge, and the resale value remains absurd.

2024 Toyota Tacoma Hybrid

But just about everyone who loves the Tacoma wants something more from it, whether it’s better performance to take on rivals like the Colorado ZR2 and Jeep Gladiator Rubicon, a more spacious and family-friendly interior, or better fuel economy with a hybrid or even electric powertrain. . Toyota is thus under tremendous pressure to make sure the next generation Tacoma has more of what buyers want – without sacrificing the things that made the Tacoma so great today.

Here’s what we know right now about what the fourth generation Tacoma will look like.

The 2024 Toyota Tacoma will almost certainly be the first truly new Tacoma pickup truck in almost 20 years, not only with styling inspired by the 2022 Toyota Tundra, but with a new platform, new powertrains and a larger overall package. We believe Toyota will offer a wider range of Tacomas than ever before, with a turbocharged I-4, a hybrid V-6, and even an electric Tacoma.2024 Toyota Tacoma Hybrid Release Date

Why It Matters

Despite its relative age, slinky cab and critically tuned powertrains, the stylish Tacoma is today’s segment leader in the increasingly hot midsize pickup market. With the new Ford Ranger and Chevrolet Colorado on the horizon, an updated Tacoma is needed to ensure this cash cow continues to produce milk.

2024 Toyota Tacoma Hybrid Platform and Powertrain

The driving force behind the new Tacoma is its TNGA-F platform, Toyota’s new modular body-on-frame global architecture. Shared not only with the 2022 Tundra, but also with the new Lexus LX, global Land Cruiser, Hilux and next generation 4Runner, the new platform allows for a dizzying array of powertrain options, body styles and suspension options. When it comes to the 2024 Tacoma, we believe Toyota will offer a 275hp version of the Lexus NX350. A 2.4-liter turbocharged I-4 as the base engine, and possibly a tuned-up version of the Tundra’s 389-horsepower 3.4-liter twin-turbo V-6 Tundra hybridized. Transmission options likely include a six-speed manual and a 10-speed automatic; both rear and all-wheel drive will be available.2024 Toyota Tacoma Hybrid Release Date

The Tacoma is one of the most popular mid-size trucks in the entire segment, and Toyota achieved record sales last year, surpassing more than 250,000 total sales. Tacoma fans are extremely loyal, but to keep it that way, Toyota plans to completely redesign the quirky pickup truck for the 2024 model year.

A significant update is long overdue since the outgoing third-generation Toyota Tacoma was released back in 2015, and the wait is almost over as Toyota is already working to have an all-new 2024 Tacoma ready by the end of next year. After a complete redesign of the 2022 Toyota Tundra, the new Tacoma will likely take a lot of inspiration from its full-size sibling.

Expect new styling, interior, and chassis that will allow the 2024 Toyota Tacoma to continue beating competitors like the Chevy Colorado, Ford Ranger, and Nissan Frontier. While most of the details are still under wraps, there are still a huge number of features and speculative ideas to discuss. Here’s everything we know so far about the upcoming 2024 Toyota Tacoma.

2024 Toyota Tacoma will have a new platform and updated technologies

The all-new Toyota Tacoma, set to arrive following the release of a redesigned 4-runner SUV that has yet to meet the public, will feature the new body-on-frame TNGA-F platform. Toyota is already using this platform on the Sequoia, Tundra and J300 Land Cruiser, which have been completely redesigned. However, as a smaller truck, both the Tacoma and the upcoming 4Runner will feature slightly modified versions of the TNGA-F platform.2024 Toyota Tacoma Hybrid Release Date

We also expect the 2024 Tacoma to get most of the technology found in the new Toyota Tundra, which means it will likely replace its current 8-inch infotainment touchscreen with the new 14-inch display provided in its big brother. It will also likely use the same operating system and provide many similar features.

What engine options will the 2024 Toyota Tacoma have?

Engine downsizing is common practice these days, and Toyota has already replaced the Tundra and Sequoia V8s with smaller turbocharged V6s, so we can almost guarantee that most versions of the upcoming Tacoma will come with turbo inline-4s, as opposed to the outgoing V6s.  However, Toyota may also release a high-performance 2024 Tacoma trim that could potentially have a turbo V6 from the new Tundra.

The current Toyota Tacoma is the only midsize SUV that still offers a manual transmission, although despite our hopes to the contrary, we expect the manual transmission to be phased out in the 2024 model year. It’s also safe to say that the newest Tacoma will get an updated powertrain. The current six-speed automatic is extremely outdated, especially compared to rivals.

We may also foresee the arrival of the hybrid Tacoma at some point. Toyota says it plans to spruce up every one of its models with an electric option by the end of 2025, be it all-electric or hybrid. Toyota also unveiled an all-electric pickup concept in December, and while the Japanese automaker hasn’t confirmed it as an electric Tacoma, it could still be very good.

What a 2024 Toyota Tacoma Might Look Like

So far, only a heavily camouflaged version of the new Tacoma has been spotted during a test run near Toyota’s Colorado headquarters in the US. It’s hard to get any idea of its potential looks, but the fact that its rear end is so pragmatically covered means it could get a set of spring-loaded rear suspension.

We imagine the 2024 Tacoma will draw a lot of design cues from the facelifted Toyota Tundra, including a larger front grille and headlight setup. Everything else is nothing but speculation and we will have to wait until Toyota releases the revealed images.

That’s pretty much everything we know and want to speculate about the upcoming 2024 Toyota Tacoma, which is one of the most anticipated cars in recent times, at least for US buyers. Unless Toyota somehow manages to completely miss the mark with new updates – which we highly doubt – the Tacoma will almost certainly surpass current sales figures and continue to establish itself as one of the most popular trucks in the entire market. We’ll be sure to provide updates as soon as Toyota reveals more about the 2024 Tacoma.

We’re also expecting an electric Tacoma, as shown in the Toyota Electric Truck Concept. We don’t have much on the Tacoma EV, but we expect it to come standard with twin-motor all-wheel drive. Despite the wide variety of powertrains, all Tacomas have to lose their leafy rear suspensions in favor of more street-ready coil springs. Both the extended and short-and-long-bed crew cab models are likely to fit regular-engined Tacomas, while the EV will likely only come in the popular crew cab and short bed configuration.
