2024 Toyota 4Runner Redesign is currently in its 5th generation. With outdated mechanics like a 5-speed transmission and an aged 4L V6 engine, the current 4Runner calls for a much-needed upgrade, both inside and out. We’re in luck, as rumors are growing that Toyota will refresh the 4Runner for 2024. With recent updates to the Toyota Tundra line, some exciting news is expected in the 2024 Toyota 4Runner.
2024 Toyota 4Runner Redesign
Toyota has a fantastic mid-size SUV with the 4Runner, but obsolete technology is showing limitations in recent years. The latest generation launched in 2009, shows more than a decade of aged features and minor upgrades. 4Runner is too late for an upgrade. The year of the 2024 model saw the TRD Pro enter the line, and with the commitments to the hybrid offerings of each model, there is a lot to look forward to with the Toyota 4Runner 2024. Check out the 4Runner that could come out on the roads next year!
Following the launch trends in the fall or winter for the next model year, the launch of the Toyota 4Runner 2024 appears to be in late 2024. As such, this gives a year of tuning and debugging before Toyota releases a refined 6th generation 4Runner.
The 5th generation Toyota 4Runner was announced in September 2009. This announcement date could give some indication of when the 6th generation Toyota 4Runner will be announced. In addition, production could start around September 2024, with the first vehicles hitting the roads in time for Christmas. The current generation of Toyota’s mid-size SUV is 12 years old, but it still has impressive sales figures. The last two years of the model have been the most successful in its history. No wonder the Japanese manufacturer is not in a hurry to redesign it. The latest reports indicate that the new generation will not arrive before 2024. This clearly shows that the Toyota 4Runner 2024 will have familiar design features.
The 2024 Toyota 4Runner has many features. Its steep exterior and excellent off-road performance are what we like best. The cabin is spacious with a third row of seats. It is also a bit old and has a poor fuel economy. The cavalcade is not very smooth.
2024 Toyota 4Runner – Exterior and Interior Design
Since 2009, the current form is in use. Since then we’ve only seen one major update. The style has remained unchanged for seven or eight years, even though that was many years ago. Although we saw some new visual packages, the overall style remained unchanged. The mechanics are the same. We think that’s a big deal. Although the Toyota 4Runner 2024 is an old model, it is still rugged and capable. TRD Pro is the best version, but all versions have impressive off-road capability. The TRD Pro version includes additional upgrades such as TRD front springs, FOX shock absorbers and TRD shock absorbers. There is also a TRD Pro-specific roof rack and improved skid boards. It also includes a unique grid design and unique color options.
This is where the 2024 Toyota 4Runner Redesign really shows its age. You will see that this SUV is from a different era in the automotive industry just by looking at its control panel. It is desodinated and is made mainly of hard plastics. The interior is still very durable and the quality of construction is excellent. Although the cabin is not very attractive, it is spacious and functional. The standard model can accommodate up to five people, but there is the option to add a third row. Although shrunken, the third row can sometimes be very useful. The driving position is high and offers excellent visibility in all directions.
2024 Toyota 4Runner – Updated Interior
The Toyota 4Runner is equipped with standard features for 2024. Power windows, power seats, infotainment system, dual zone air conditioning, but nothing special. The Toyota 4Runner is even behind in some ways compared to the tastes of the Nissan Murano, which offers additional luxury features at a cheaper price.
Again, using the updated Toyota Tundra as an example, the Toyota 4Runner 2024 looks impressive. An up-to-date infotainment system and higher quality materials will make an immediate impression. Also, look for luxurious features such as an extended moonlight and climate control.
2024 Toyota 4Runner – Updated transmission
The Toyota 4Runner currently uses a 5-speed automatic transmission. Such a limited number of gears contributes to low gas mileage and provides low-gloss towing capabilities. The speed of 5 is so outdated that it does not appear in its competitors.
For the 2024 Toyota 4Runner Redesign, the transmission will be upgraded to at least an 8-speed automatic transmission. Best of all, the Toyota 4Runner has a 10-speed manual like the new Ford Branco. Regardless, the transmission will see a significant improvement, especially with the desire for lower emissions and better fuel economy.
The TRD Pro is back
The TRD Pro has been Toyota’s off-road sports brand for years. By 2024, Toyota offered the TRD Pro as a trim option for the 4Runner, joining the Tundra and Sequoia. TRD Pro sports upgraded the suspension, skid plates, wheels and the all-in-one brand.
The inclusion of the 2024 Toyota 4Runner Redesign in the TRD Pro family is a sign of things to come with the 6th generation that will probably also offer the TRD Pro finish. The tweak will pay homage to the current Toyota 4Runner TRD Pro as it seeks to provide the updates it desperately needs.
2024 Toyota 4Runner Engine
The underside of the vehicle will remain unchanged. The Toyota 2024 Toyota 4Runner will maintain the same proven combination of a 4.0-liter V6 engine with a 5-speed automatic transmission. It produces 270 horsepower and 278 pounds of torque. This power is enough to drive the SUV comfortably, but it is not fast. The base models are equipped with RWD, but you can also choose to have four-wheel drive.
This configuration has a major drawback: fuel economy. It is very poor by current standards. The city only gets 16 mpg and the highway, 19 mpg. Even more thirsty models come with four-wheel drive. While it is capable of towing £ 5,000, there are significant areas of opportunity within the 4Runner’s engine. Current Toyota 4Runner models only offer a 4.0L V6 engine. Such an outdated engine translates into a low combined rating of 17 MPG.
For the 2025 model year, expect the Toyota 4Runner to come with a much more fuel-efficient 4-cylinder turbocharger capable of producing the same or higher power ratings than the current engine. In addition, there could be an option for a V6 that would add extra towing capabilities and power for off-road adventures.
2024 Toyota 4Runner – Updated suspension platform
While the TRD Pro version added some necessary upgrades to the suspension system, the current Toyota 4Runner could use a bit of love for the suspension. The 4Runner offers dual wishbone suspension at the front, coil spring, side rod suspension at the rear.
Toyota’s 4Runner for 2024 was able to see Toyota’s body-on-frame truck platform used in the Tundra and land cruiser. While it would be a smaller version, this would help with suspension and handling, creating a more comfortable sidewalk ride and a more capable ride on dirt.
2024 Toyota 4Runner A hybrid version
Toyota has promised to offer a hybrid for each model by 2024. The 2024 Toyota 4Runner Redesign will be part of this line as we have already seen Toyota launch the hybrid version of the Toyota Tundra 2024.
The Toyota Tundra contains a V6 i-Force Max that provides the hybrid option. This engine would be a great upgrade option for the Toyota 4Runner. However, it would not be entirely surprising if some version of Toyota’s 2.5L 4-cylinder hybrid Highlander engine also appears in the 4Runner. Either way, the option helps save money on the pump and the environment.
2024 Toyota 4Runner Release Date and Price
The 2024 Toyota 4Runner Redesign is expected to arrive sometime in the latter part of the decade. The price of the new model should be the same as the current model, which is priced at approximately $ 37,000. The competition would include four Jeep Wrangler and Ford Bronco versions.
Currently, the 4Runner starts at $ 37,305. This price point pushes the mid-size SUV above the competition. If Toyota seems to stay competitive, profitable, and able to provide much-needed upgrades, expect the cost to exceed $ 40,000. However, if the Toyota Tundra indicates what the 4Runner 2025 will look like, the price will justify the upgrades.
Also, expect the cost to increase rapidly with options and trim levels that provide extras such as increased engine size or the hybrid version. Plus, the TRD Pro at the top of the line will be available for over $ 50,000!
What the Toyota 4Runner 2025 offers
The 2025 Toyota 4Runner offers a return to greatness for the mid-size SUV market. The desperate need for upgrades and the desire to bring a competitive vehicle to the hungry SUV audience means a Toyota 4Runner with more power and significant luxury additions.
