2024 Toyota 4Runner Hybrid Review

2024 Toyota 4Runner Hybrid – The upcoming 2024 Toyota 4Runner will be redesigned because its current design is considered obsolete. Being fifth generation and outdated performance (an outdated 4.0 liter V6 unit with a 5 speed gearbox), the current 4Runner is seen as in dire need of a redesigned job. Let’s hope Toyota is smart enough with their upcoming updates.

2024 Toyota 4Runner Hybrid

It’s hard to deny that the Toyota 4Runner Hybrid remains one of the most charming SUVs on the road. He is capable, he is bulletproof  and perhaps most importantly and he just looks cool. The trouble is that the fifth generation that which went into production back in 2009, is outdated. It gets less than 20 mpg on the highway, and its five-speed automatic offers half as many gears as the new Ford Bronco. It’s time for Toyota to give us an update for the 4Runner; fortunately, one of them should arrive very soon.

Here’s what you need to know about the upcoming sixth generation Toyota 4Runner. When will the next generation Toyota 4Runner hit the market? How will it look like? This SUV update is highly anticipated. Here is everything we know and do not know so far.

Toyota 4Runner Hybrid

Toyota has an aggressive plan for its growing hybrid offerings over the next few years. This movement includes its entire line of cars, trucks and SUVs. I was fortunate enough to discuss this a year ago with a Toyota expert in the know.

“In the next few years and we are trying to increase the number of vehicles that we have with alternative electrified powertrain to 25% (of total vehicle sales). And give every vehicle we offer an electrified propulsion system.” Suggested by Tom Kretschmann, who is a product subject matter expert on the Toyota Product & Sales Engagement team.2024 Toyota 4Runner Hybrid Review

Having a 4Runner hybrid variant available to consumers will be tailored to a specific buyer market. People looking to significantly improve their gas mileage will benefit from the hybrid 4Runner. Currently buyers of the 2024 Toyota 4Runner Hybrid will find the mpg list in 16 city/19 highway/17 combined part-time 4WD 4Runners.

Other potential benefits for the 2024 Toyota 4Runner Hybrid could include improved low-end torque, lower emissions and pollution, and potentially higher values.

2024 Toyota 4Runner Hybrid Engine

The current powertrain of the 2024 Toyota 4Runner Hybrid is a 4.0-liter V6 engine mated to a 5-speed automatic transmission. This produces 270 horsepower and 278 lb-ft. torque. It’s not the only engine we’ve seen on the Toyota 4Runner over the years. Options like the 2.4-liter engine and 4.7-liter V8 engine have moved drivers from point A to point B in the past.2024 Toyota 4Runner Hybrid Review

It’s hard to imagine what kind of transmission evolution we can expect next. I feel that the biggest room for improvement is in this department. A more modern drivetrain is sure to satisfy 4Runner fans and enthusiasts. Also, I wouldn’t be surprised if I found a turbocharged path similar to the next generation 2024 Toyota Tundra design rumors.

What do you think of ideal powertrain combinations?

2024 Toyota 4Runner Hybrid Features

When the Toyota 4Runner was updated for the 2020 model year, it gave owners some incredibly important upgrades. On the 2020 and 2021 4Runners you’ll find Toyota Safety Sense, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, larger media screens, a slightly updated interior design and rear USB ports.

Before we dive into the next 4Runner, let’s take a step back and look at other new vehicles Toyota is launching over the next few months. The all-new 2024 Toyota Tundra is on sale now. The new Tundra hybrid will be online soon. The all-new 2024 Toyota Sequoia Hybrid will go on sale later this year. Both of them share the new frame-based platform and methodology of TNGA-F. All the rumors and anecdotal information we have so far suggests that the next generation Toyota Tacoma and 4Runner will use this same platform but on a smaller “mid-size” scale.2024 Toyota 4Runner Hybrid Review

It looks like the next generation Tacoma is next in line for release, perhaps as a 2023 model. Take a look at the Tacoma prototypes we recently spotted in the wild. This puts the next generation 4Runner up for a redesign once the new Tacoma arrives. In other words, the complete redesign will most likely be the 2024 Toyota 4Runner.

The next 4Runner will likely stay about the same size as it is now. Why bother with success? The current 4Runner is still selling very well. Toyota sold 13.228 Toyota 4Runner SUVs in the United States in April 2024. The chassis will most likely have independent front suspension. At the rear, it will most likely have a solid rear axle with a new multi-link spring suspension.2024 Toyota 4Runner Hybrid Review

The 2024 Toyota 4Runner is rumored to feature the new turbocharged 2.4-liter I4 engine that debuted in the 2024 Lexus NX. In Lexus, this new engine produces 275 horsepower and 317 lb-ft of torque at 1,700 rpm. A 4Runner gas-electric hybrid is also very possible.

The new 4Runner will have to compete with the rugged Jeep Wrangler and the 4-door Ford Bronco. The 4Runner will have to have the same features, features and price as the Wrangler and Bronco. We expect the next generation 4Runner to be officially unveiled within the next 12 months or so.

Redesigned project

The 4Runner is considered a fantastic and impressive midsize SUV, but outdated technology leaves the car behind. First launched in 2009, the car is starting to showcase decades of old features and abilities. For the 2024 model year, TRD Pro will be included as well as a hybrid offering. For the 2024 model year, the 4Runner is installed as the sixth generation of the 4Runner.

Cabin exterior and interior design

There has only been one update since its launch in 2009. This means that 4Runner has been using the same style for many years – up to 7 or even 8 years. Even with a redesigned project, the overall style will remain. This means the exterior will still be “old school” but with better features and enduring style.

The TRD Pro will include optional upgrades such as Fox dampers, TRD dampers and TRD front springs. There will also be a dedicated TRD Pro roof rack, as well as improved skid boards. There will be unique color options as well as mesh design.2024 Toyota 4Runner Hybrid Review

For the interior cabin, hard plastic is a serious must go. Looking at the current design, it’s obvious that the 4Runner has shown its age. The control panel is outdated. While the interior is still durable with excellent build quality, the 4Runner needs improvements. The cabin may not be very attractive, but it is roomy and functional. The standard model alone is capable of carrying 5 people, while there is always an additional choice for the third row. The driving position is comfortable and high, providing perfect visibility to all directions.

Expect new features like dual-zone AC, power seats, power windows and an infotainment system among some of the upgraded features. Nothing grand or big here, but it should be enough. But Toyota should take the 4Runner update seriously because it’s definitely falling behind some worthy competitors, including the Nissan Murano. It is capable of adding extra luxury features without impacting the price.

Updated and improved transmission

The current 4Runner uses an automatic 5-speed transmission, which is anything but impressive. For the 2024 Toyota 4Runner, the revised design will include an improved powertrain. There will be an automatic 8-speed transmission. It would be better if there could be a manual 10-speed transmission (like the one included in the Ford Bronco). With a better transmission, fuel economy will be better and lower emissions can be expected.

Return of TRD Pro

The TRD Pro was designed as Toyota’s off-road performance. It’s good that Toyota offers the TRD Pro as one of the available trims. He will join the sequoia and tundra. The TRO Pro will include upgraded skid plates, suspension, wheels and more.

Transmission and performance

The upcoming 2024 model will come with a 4.0-liter V6 block generating 270 hp. The main standard will be a rear wheel drive system, but there is also a four wheel drive system. The details are still unclear, so we should know more once the company provides them.

2024 Toyota 4Runner Hybrid Price and Release date

Pricing is expected to start at around $40,000, putting the car in competition with the Ford Bronco and Jeep Wrangler. It seems right with updated performance and redesigned design. The release date could be around 2023, although the date is unclear so we should know more about the 2024 Toyota 4Runner.
