The new Tundra will be built on the same modular platform as the Tacoma van and SUV as the Toyota 4Runner and Toyota Sequoia.

Based on the rear door and wheel logo, the prototype seen appears to be a road-level TRD Pro trim level. The existing 5.7-liter petrol V8 engine can be replaced with a new twin-turbo V6 engine. Although a hybrid version is being created, this engine is likely to be available as an option at some point.
Character change for the Tundra
2023 Toyota Tundra packs a lot of design improvements and the refurbishment makes full-size pickup almost unrecognizable. Its front-end has a new high-tech and more robust look. Mike Sweers, the chief engineer of the Tundra, told Driving.ca that he loves diesel engines and would have liked the training to include one. However, after the Volkswagen Group dieselgate scandal, the certification of a diesel engine in North America takes three years. In addition, the hybrid engine, which does not come from Lexus, offers a faster response compared to a diesel engine, Sweers said.
The 2023 Toyota Tundra Hybrid could offer customers a good balance of economy and power, offering an EPA-estimated fuel economy of about 30 MPG. Official fuel economy figures or company estimates have yet to come out.

The only problem, and it’s small, eradicable once you’re used to picking up, is that the braking system is too sensitive because regenerative braking adds to the stopping power of the discs.
The extra power of 48 horsepower and an additional 104 feet of torque of the hybrid variant does not make it a significantly better performer, suggests the Motor Trend review, which also mentions the disadvantage of an overly sensitive braking system. Technology enthusiasts may find the lack of special graphs showing energy flow or energy regeneration. A serious disaffection is the unavailability of an EV mode, although Toyota probably thought it might not be of much use to most customers in daily driving.
Toyota Tundra continues to be deployed at the company’s San Antonio (Texas) plant in the US Toyota announced on December 3, 2021 that it has begun manufacturing the new Tundra at the plant, which has an annual production capacity of 208,000 vehicles.

Introduced in 1998, the Toyota Tundra became the first full-size van manufactured by a Japanese automaker in North America when it went into production in May 1999. Toyota arrived in Indiana before moving production to Texas in 2008.
