2023 Toyota Tacoma Spy Photos
This is perhaps the closest look to the 2023 Toyota Tacoma prototype. These images give a better idea of what the headlights and taillights might look like on a stock truck. Thanks to Cole T. for sending us these photos of this test truck running up and down the Ike Gauntlet™ Highway (I-70 in Colorado next to the Johnson/Eisenhower Memory Tunnels).
We use the Ike Gauntlet as the world’s toughest towing test. That’s because the 8-mile stretch of I-70 from Dillon, Colorado to the tunnels is 7% with an upper elevation of 11,158 feet above sea level. These are high altitude tests. The next generation Tacoma is expected to use the TNGA-F platform and chassis that also underpins the 2022 Tundra and 2023 Sequoia. Naturally, the Tacoma will retain its midsize proportions. It is still unclear what will power the new Toyota Tacoma. It could be a new 2.4-liter turbocharged I4 engine and/or a gas-electric hybrid.
Here Roman and Nathan discuss the next generation of Tacoma.
When will the 2023 Toyota Tacoma be released and available?
Toyota has yet to announce an official release date for the 2023 Tacoma. The 2023 Tacoma will likely be released in late 2022 or early 2023. The latest incarnation of the midsize truck will be available at Toyota dealerships throughout the United States, as well as select international markets.
2023 Toyota Tacoma Specs: New Engine Options
The engines offered for the 2022 Tacoma – a base 2.7-liter four-cylinder and an available 3.5-liter V6 – are the midsize truck’s biggest weakness. In particular, the V-6 in the 2022 Tacoma has lower performance than all of its competitors that offer V-6s.
Toyota will likely fix this weakness for the 2023 Toyota Tacoma. Car and Driver pointed out that the 2023 Tacoma may offer a turbocharged four-cylinder engine that is similar to the 2.4-liter version from the Lexus NX350, which generates 275 hp. and 317 lb-ft of torque. Also, like the redesigned 2022 Tundra, the 2023 Tacoma can offer a powerful hybrid version of its V-6 engine. Toyota will likely eventually release an electric version of the Tacoma as well, but that probably won’t happen until at least the 2024 model year.
Like the 2022 Tacoma, the 2023 Tacoma will feature a body-on-frame design. However, a midsize truck will likely ditch the leaf spring suspension and replace it with a coil spring suspension that provides better handling and a smoother ride.
The 2023 Tacoma will likely offer an upgraded version of its automatic transmission, which is another weak point for the 2022 Tacoma. In addition, Tacoma is the only mid-size truck that offers a manual transmission. Given the popularity of the Tacoma enthusiast manual, Tacoma will likely still offer a manual for the 2023 model year.
2023 Toyota Tacoma : what does it look like?
Toyota has yet to release any images or videos of the 2023 Toyota Tacoma. We expect the 2023 Toyota Tacoma to share some of the design elements of the 2022 Toyota Tundra. This includes a similar grille, fender flares and lighting. In addition, the 2023 Tacoma will feature the TNGA-F architecture that underpins the 2022 Tundra, as well as the 2023 Sequoia, 2022 Lexus LX, and 2022 global Land Cruiser.
As for the interior, the 2023 Tacoma is likely to have similar updates as the 2022 Tundra. This includes better materials and more modern features such as the option of a larger 14.0-inch touchscreen.
As more information becomes available on the 2023 Toyota Tacoma, we will provide updates. It includes:
- Debut date
- Release date
- Pricing information with the cost of each finish
- Color options
- Engine options and specifications

We’re happy to announce that Toyota won’t wait 14 years to launch the next generation Tacoma, as it did with the larger Tundra. Currently in its third iteration, the midsize pickup has been around since 2015, and it looks like an all-new version of the truck will arrive sooner rather than later, possibly as early as the 2023 model year. Spotted for the first time, the next generation model was spotted in Las Vegas by a reader of The Fast Lane.
The Tacoma was not entirely alone, as Toyota compared it to the Ford Ranger itself, which is preparing for the next generation, debuting in 2022. The guys at TFL speculate that the disguised prototype had a turbocharged engine, as the Blue Oval truck also boasts forced induction. This could be a sign that the naturally aspirated 2.7-liter four-cylinder and 3.5-liter V6 will be replaced by a turbo engine, likely the four-cylinder unit already used in other Toyota/Lexus models.
The 2023 Tacoma is expected to move to the TNGA-F platform shared with the Tundra, Land Cruiser and the new LX unveiled earlier this week. Rumor has it that Toyota plans to merge the Hilux and Tacoma into a single model to achieve significant cost savings, and build the 4Runner SUV on the same architecture. It remains to be seen if these models will get the 10-speed automatic available in larger vehicles. Logic tells us that the Sequoia SUV is next in line to get it.
Styling-wise, Toyota has gone to great lengths to disguise the new truck, but we’re already getting the impression of a smaller Tundra from the front fascia. Additional camouflage hanging from the underside of the tailgate likely hides a rear suspension setup that could switch to a multi-link layout with coil springs to ward off the Tundra.
If the Hilux and Tacoma do become a single global model, as reports say, that could also mean that the Hilux-based Fortuner will be mechanically identical to the 4Runner.
There is some exciting news about the possible redesign of the Toyota Tacoma circulating on the Internet recently. According to The Fast Lane Truck, recent spy photos show what could be the famous truck in 2023. The model is camouflaged and tested all around.
Although the truck is heavily guarded by camouflage, there are a few details we can gather from everything we know about Toyota and its other models. For example, this truck in the middle of the photos can share the same ground as a new, full-size tundra. Most of it can be seen in the pictures, but through the draping cracks you can see the horizontal bars on the grille, which is very reminiscent of the famous design of the Tundra SR5. Knowing that this car can be modeled after the tundra, we can also expect new styled headlights and tail lights.
Appearance is not the only thing that can be changed with remodeling. News of the change also spreads under the cover. In its third generation, the current Tacoma uses a 3.5-liter V6 engine, but there are some doubts that it will be in the next design. Instead, we can see a turbo-4-cylinder engine or a 2.4-liter engine. It can increase the current from the current 265 lb-ft to 317 lb-ft, although it can reduce the horsepower by a few milligrams. We do not know if six-speed manual transmission will still be available as an option, but it is likely that the standard may be eight-speed automatic.
Since we have no confirmation for this model, we have to wait, just as we have to wait and see if Toyota decides to expand by announcing a tacoma hybrid at some point in the future.
How much does a 2023 Toyota Tacoma cost?
Toyota has yet to release pricing information for the 2023 Tacoma. However, given the likely redesign and significant feature upgrades, the 2023 Tacoma is likely to cost a bit more than the 2022 Tacoma. 2022 Tacoma starting prices range from $26,700 for the SR Access Cab trim to $46,135 for the TRD Pro Double Cab trim.
Because we are not sure that the car in the spy shots is actually in 2023. is the new Toyota Tacoma, we do not have a release date yet. However, if it is based on the typical schedule of this model, it is possible that the release will take place in 2022. at the end.
The current Toyota Tacoma is priced at around $ 27,715- $ 485, and we do not have the 2023 The exact price range of the model, with upgrades and upgrades, it can probably get a little more expensive. As this is a well-known segment, there has never been a lack of competition when it comes to mid-size trucks. The Takomans are completely different, as the usual main competitors are Ford Ranger, Chevy Colorado and GMC Gorge.
