2023 Toyota BZ4X – Intuitive, focused driving with off-road performance
The 2023 toyota bz4x canada delivers the off-road performance you’d expect from a capable SUV, along with the smooth driving performance and fun inherent in an all-electric vehicle.
Built on the BEV’s custom E-TNGA platform, a first for Toyota, the 2023 Toyota BZ4X delivers impressive driving performance thanks to a high-capacity lithium-ion battery pack laid flat underground, giving it a low center of gravity. The impressive handling is partly due to the battery framing structure, which adds to the car’s overall solidity. The adoption of a lightweight body structure made partly from high-tensile steel, as well as reinforced frame components around the battery pack and front and rear suspension contribute to the bZ4X’s agile response. In addition, a redesigned accelerator pedal creates a smoother feel when accelerating and decelerating along with a smart throttle with slip suppression to provide impressive control on slippery roads. And when you combine that with a new AWD system with X-MODE®, a notable feature available to the bZ4X and Toyota first, you get a driving experience that is exhilarating, comfortable, yet suitable for everything from everyday driving to off-road lighting. Another impressive feature of the AWD system is Grip Control, which takes advantage of the characteristics of an automobile’s engine to deliver capable off-road performance – exceeding expectations at every turn.
The engineering team also focused on features that increase the range of energy savings and cruising for year-round driving (particularly in winter environments). In addition to aerodynamic design options and body weight reduction efforts, the following systems and equipment have been adopted to reduce energy consumption, particularly energy used for heating in cold climates:
Heat pump system for both heating and air conditioning
Seat and steering wheel heaters
Radiant foot and leg heater in the front seat (first for Toyota)
Performance + Peace of Mind
Determined to deliver performance that also focuses on safety and peace of mind, Toyota aims to develop a BEV that provides many years of satisfied ownership. This includes looking at its overall driving range, particularly in colder climates, and targeting a 90% battery capacity retention after 10 years of ownership.
In terms of battery safety, Toyota has added several measures to help ensure cell integrity is protected. Non-conductive coolant passes through separate flow channels to maintain optimum battery temperature. The housing battery pack is designed to withstand collision from any angle due to the frame and cross bracing design.
The 2023 toyota bz4x interior will be the first to feature the latest Toyota Safety SenseTM (TSS 3.0) safety package. This system has been improved by expanding the detection range of millimeter wave radar and a single camera. Toyota has enhanced the performance of each function and added new functions to assist in normal driving conditions. For example, the pre-collision system has been improved to offer low-light cyclist detection, daytime motorcycle detection and handrail detection. Track recognition is also improved to add enhanced functionality while in lane tracking assist mode.
The goal of the TSS system is to help prevent accidents, further reduce deaths and injuries from traffic accidents and ease the burden on drivers.

2023 Toyota BZ4X – RANGE, CHARGING AND BATTERY LIFE
The bZ4X will come with a 64.0 kWh battery pack that Toyota claims should provide up to 250 miles of driving range per charge in a front-wheel drive model. Going with a more powerful, dual-motor all-wheel drive variant should drop the range somewhat, but Toyota has yet to release details on this model. Fast charging will be standard and Toyota says the bZ4X’s integrated solar panels will capture enough power for about 1,000 km of driving range per year.
