2023 Toyota 4Runner – The Toyota 4Runner will be redesigned sooner rather than later. It definitely comes with a brand new engine and transmission combination, body design, exterior and interior style, and all new technology and safety features. Thinking about possible new features is exciting for me and many people around the world.
2023 Toyota 4Runner Redesign Concept
One of my favorite parts about creating auto review videos and stories is reading audience thoughts, comments and opinions. After all, the people who drive and love Toyota cars, trucks and SUVs would be the ones who know the best, right?
The next-gen Toyota 4Runner is coming
I recently wrote a Corncrake News story to discuss the possible changes that will come when the next generation Toyota 4Runner is launched. Timeline is looking like the 2010 model year – as is now according to most rumors. What I found was amazing because of all the proposed changes, one small but obviously low feature keeps coming up.
Comments about 2023 Toyota 4Runner
I get feedback from all my social media platforms, including my Toyotajeff YouTube channel, my Facebook and Instagram pages, and my torque news stories. Just read a sample of these brainstorming ideas for the next gen 4Runner and look for something they have in common.
Peter had to say that. “… My top priority would be the modern running gear (duh). And keeping the electric rear window. My dogs loved it. By the way, I prefer the older more rounded style.
“2.5L hybrid powertrain standard, 2.5L turbo hybrid or 3.5L hybrid optional. Plug preferably for both. Keep retractable rear window no matter what.” Scott is offered.
“I’d love to see a much better mpg, more power highway acceleration, roll down the back window, more technology and a sound system.” Commented by Sara.
Kevin suggested these ideas. “I have a 2012 4Runner I bought a new one. I love this vehicle! I’m going to buy a new 2023 with a redesign. Hopefully this will include a powerful but efficient drive train, keep the roll down the rear window, improved sound system, keep it simple / masculine design Please do not convert it to another plush SUV kid carrier.
Natalie was a proxy for another passenger. “Do dogs get to vote? If so, Stella says to keep power back in the window. That’s important!”
People (and dogs) have talked.
Time your thoughts on the Toyota 4Runner
The current 2023 Toyota 4Runner is powered by a 4.0-liter V6 engine equivalent to a 5-speed automatic transmission. It produces 270 horsepower and 278 lb-ft. Torque. There were many other suggestions focusing on a variety of topics, including powertrain combinations, storage ideas, lighting, a stereo system and fuel economy.
This power back window was the most discussed feature. I hope Toyota has this important piece in their plans when it’s time to complete all the features of the 2023 model year. Stella is waiting for the 4Runner to start – with a power back window. And maybe a treat too.
There are so many things to like about the Toyota 4Runner. For more than three decades, this tough and rugged SUV has been making people and families happy on the road. And of course off the road too.
I appreciate a wide range of finishes such as SR5, TRD Off-Road, TRD Pro Limited and Nightshade. Plus, the new 2023 4Runner Trail Edition is here. Most people understand the Toyota 4Runner is ready to be modified and redesigned. It’s time for the 6th generation to come and see.
We’ve had our 5th generation design since 2009. People really like the current record, but they’re also ready to see what’s coming next. People are talking about the 2023 Toyota 4Runner
Comments from viewers on my “Toyotajeff” YouTube channel and readers of my Corncrake News / Toyota News column are what provide ideas for new content. For example, this article I am writing today, for example. People have had interesting observations talking about our current 4Runner and what might be next. Time to open the comment bag.
“Can’t wait to see what Toyota is the next 4Runner!” Terry exclaimed. Lamar apparently thought it was awhile. “Redesign time. Isn’t it ten years already?”
“Jeff do you know if there will be a redesign next year?” Asked Commander Rhino. Bobby Brown shared his thoughts. “Beautiful but kind of crazy as they can charge so much for it, given how outdated that kind is. Specifically, the engine and transmission.”
“Just picked up the 2023 4Runner Venture and plan on marketing it for the new design in a few years.” Commented by Brad. Good plan Brad. Until we hear otherwise, perhaps the best thing to do is think about the redesigned 2023 Toyota 4Runner.
Rumors have been shaking Toyota circles during this period. I don’t know more, but it’s a good frame of reference – now at least. Here are some of my thoughts on what could be changed or updated.
Toyota 4Runner Hybrid
Toyota has an aggressive plan for its growing hybrid offerings over the next several years. This movement includes all of its lineup of cars, trucks and SUVs. I was lucky enough to discuss this a year ago with a Toyota expert to know.
“In the coming years, we are looking to increase the number of vehicles we have with an alternative, electrified power plant to 25% (of total vehicle sales). And give each vehicle we offer an electrified power plant option.” Presented by Tom Kretschmann, a product subject expert with the Toyota Product & Sales Engagement team.
Having a 4Runner hybrid option for consumers would be suitable for a particular buyer’s market. People who want to significantly improve their gas mileage could benefit from the hybrid 4Runner. Currently 2023 Toyota 4Runner buyers will find listed mpg at 16 city / 19 highway / 17 total part-time 4WD 4Runners.
Other potential benefits of the Toyota 4Runner Hybrid could include improved low-end torque, lower emissions and pollution, and potentially higher values. The current 2023 4Runner is powered by a 4.0-liter V6 engine that is matched by a 5-speed automatic transmission. It produces 270 horsepower and 278 lb-ft. Torque.
It’s not the only engine we’ve seen over the years in the Toyota 4Runner. Features like the 2.4-liter engine and the V8 engine as high as 4.7 liters have moved drivers from point A to point B in the past.
It is difficult to speculate on the evolution of propulsion that we can expect next. It seems to me that most room for improvement is in this department. A more modern broadcast could satisfy 4Runner fans and enthusiasts for sure. Also, I wouldn’t be surprised to find a turbo helps in a path similar to the rumored 2022 Toyota Tundra next-gen design. What are your thoughts on the perfect powertrain?
2023 Toyota 4Runner Features
When the Toyota 4Runner was refreshed for the 2020 model year, it gave owners some incredibly important improvements. In 2022 and 2023, you will find Toyota Safety Sense, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, larger multimedia screens, slightly updated interior design and rear USB ports in the 4Runner.
