2022 Toyota RAV4 Prime Release Date

2022 Toyota RAV4 Prime – Toyota has been applying a “Prime” moniker to its Toyota Prius for a few years now. That plug-in hybrid (PHEV) version of the Prius has a slightly higher price and a somewhat bigger battery that enables 25 miles of electric driving before the engine comes to life. It’s sensible — if you can plug it in and recharge it nightly — but that’s about all. The 2022 Toyota RAV4 Prime shares that nondescript suffix, and perhaps unfortunately so. This is a much more interesting and more compelling plug-in hybrid than the Prius Prime.

The reason why boils down to two points. The RAV4 Prime’s battery is significantly bigger, and that gives this small SUV an estimated all-electric range of 42 miles. That’s a truly useful number that will cover most daily commutes — especially when you know you can safely run it to zero and let the gasoline engine seamlessly keep the party moving. On top of that, the RAV4 Prime has bigger electric motors that make it significantly quicker than any other RAV4. Or just about any other small SUV for that matter.

Even with 302 horsepower, the RAV4 Prime isn’t particularly fun to drive. But it is a compelling plug-in hybrid that delivers exceptional economy and practicality.

The plug-in-hybrid Prime version of Toyota’s best-selling RAV4 is finally here and will land in dealerships this summer. The 2022 RAV4 Prime will start at $39,220. Toyota says the vehicle can cover an estimated 42 miles on battery power alone. Plus, Toyota claims it will be able to go from zero to 60 mph in 5.7 seconds via a 2.5-liter inline-four engine. Combine that powerplant with the Prime’s electric motors, one powering the rear wheels, and you get a combined 302 horsepower. Not bad for a “green” SUV.2021 toyota rav4 prime release date ,2021 toyota rav4 prime price ,2021 toyota rav4 prime colors ,2021 rav4 prime towing capacity

The plug-in RAV4 will have all-wheel drive as standard, and the automaker is estimating that it will achieve 94 MPGe combined. The RAV4 Prime will be available in two flavors: SE and XSE. The XSE gets larger 19-inch wheels instead of the 18-inchers on the SE, plus paddle shifters, wireless smartphone charging, and a 9.0-inch touchscreen instead of the SE’s 7.0-inch.

Both versions will have Toyota’s Safety Sense (TSS 2.0) driver-assist package that includes adaptive cruise control, lane-departure alert with steering assist, automated emergency braking with pedestrian detection, and lane centering. The vehicle was unveiled at the 2019 Los Angeles auto show and joins the RAV4 hybrid and the gas-only RAV4.

Which RAV4 Prime does Edmunds recommend?

Consider sticking with the SE to maximize the RAV4’s affordability. The XSE has more standard features — and offers optional features you can’t get on the SE — but none of them are must-haves. You get the same fuel economy and performance with either trim level.

Is the 2022 Toyota RAV4 re-signed?

The 2022 Toyota RAV4 Prime has not been re-signed because it is primarily a carry-over from the RAV4 2021. However, there are minor changes throughout the trim RAV4 lining. The most important addition is the new SE Hybrid trim. It has sporty styling and performance, but at a more affordable price than the expiring XSE Hybrid.2022 Toyota RAV4 Prime Release Date

Notable standard features for the 2022 RAV4 SE Hybrid include an infotainment system with a 7-inch touch screen, fabric-lined seats, and mono-tone ink options. For an additional cost, you can get optional features for the XSE Hybrid. This includes heated front seats, a heated leather steering wheel and rainy windshield wipers with a de-icer feature. Various RAV4 2022 sets have new wheels. The LE Hybrid Sets, XLE and XLE Hybrid, and Adventure have a new wheel color, while the XLE Premium Hybrid, XSE Hybrid, and Limited Hybrid have a new design for the wheels.

Another feature improvement is for the brightness of the RAV4 2022. The RAV4 XLE models have new headlights, while the XLE Premium, Limited, Adventure, and TRD Off-Road models have the new LED fog lamps. Also, the XSE Hybrid has new slim vertical lights, which were first introduced for the 2021 RAV4 Prime XSE model.

In addition, the RAV4 2022 has some internal updates. This includes interior LED lights and a handle box for all fittings, an 8-way passenger seat with limited cutting power, and illuminated internal switches for XLE and above fittings.

If you want to buy Toyota RAV4 2022, you will not have to wait much longer, because it will be out in the middle of December 2021. Once Toyota reveals the full price information for RAV4 2022 with the cost for each cut, we we will give an update.

Since it was introduced last year, not much has changed for the Toyota RAV4 Prime, but it remains one of the strangest vehicles in the Toyota stall. This is a plug-in compact crossover hybrid with several off-road flair equipped with a combined electric and gas engine that makes it the second fastest Toyota vehicle makes, slotting between Supra and GR 86 sports cars. At the same time, it is not very well equipped compared to most RAV4 models, however it has a much higher purchase price than the gas models.

The 2022 RAV4 Prime is offered in only two trim levels: SE and XSE. Price starts at $ 41,015 including the destination and ranges up to $ 44,340. Prime stands at the top of a hierarchy of SUVs that includes the standard Toyota RAV4 and RAV4 Hybrid.

There is a choice of engine for the 2022 RAV4 Prime, and it is fantastic. All Premiums come with a 2.5-liter four-cylinder combined with two electric motors and an 18.1 kWh battery pack. This gives the crossover a whopping 302 horsepower, which more than compensates for the extra 500 lbs that the battery adds.

The hybrid battery allows the Prime to achieve around 38 mpg combined, while the 18.1 kWh battery allows the Prime to travel up to 42 miles with a single electric beam.

All Prime models take all-wheel drive, but it is slightly different than most other crossovers. Instead of power being driven by a gas engine, the rear wheels are simply driven by one of the electric motors. This only starts when the vehicle feels the need for rear-wheel drive, so most of the time it is essentially a front-wheel drive car.

The RAV4 Prime has seats for five with a rear room seat and a room large enough for most adults.

However, the large Prime battery pack requires a slight reduction in cargo space after the second row compared to the gas-powered RAV4; it takes up 33.5 cubic feet of space behind the second row and 69.9 cubic feet with folding seats. In comparison, the regular RAV4 has 37.6 cubic feet of space behind the rear seat, while somehow remaining virtually the same as the flat seat.2022 Toyota RAV4 Prime Release Date

Toyota most likely offers the best standard suite of safety features in the car business today, and the RAV4 is no different. All models come with automatic emergency braking, adaptive cruise control, lane keeping assistance, blind spot monitoring and high automatic beam.

The 2022 Toyota RAV4 Prime is also well tested, but cars receive marginal ratings for LED headlights, reflecting the key issue with the standard RAV4. However, the XSE may receive adaptive “Good” lights rated as part of the higher option package.

All Prime models come standard with Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and Amazon Alexa connectivity. Basic SE models get an 8.0-inch touchscreen display, while XSE models get an upgraded 9.0-inch display. The XSE models also get some other cool features such as an activated tail leg, advanced all-wheel mode and an extra display.

Optionally, the XSE is able to add navigation and a premium audio system as well, but SE models do not get access to these enhancements.

2022 Toyota RAV4 Prime SE – MSRP From $ 41,015

The SE models come standard with cloth upholstery, heated seats, dual-zone climate control, an eight-rocket driver seat, 18-inch wheels, LED headlights and keyless entry. We would not call it well-equipped for a car that exceeds $ 40,000, but we acknowledge that most of that money goes towards Prime’s luxury hybrid engine.

The only option package available for the SE is the $ 1,665 Weather and Moonroof package, which adds some great features like a heated steering wheel, heated off-board rear seats, rain-clearing wipers and a power moonroof.

2022 Toyota RAV4 Prime XSE – MSRP From $ 44,340

The XSE is better equipped, but you still only get leather upholstery for this price. Climbing up to the XSE also offers paddle shifters for gearless CVT transmission, 19-inch wheels, some red interior accents for a sporty feel, red-colored shock absorbers for a sporty feel, interior lighting, charging wireless smartphone, a 9.0 inch infotainment system, and a moonroof.

What XSE really offers is the ability to spend money on four additional option packages. Thankfully, these packages are offered sequentially, so you can choose the level you want to spend.

The base package is the $ 815 Weather Package which is essentially the same as the package available in SE. This can be rolled into the $ 2,435 Premium Audio, Dynamic Navigation with Options package which adds premium audio and navigation to the Weather Package or the confusing $ 3,235 Premium Audio package, Dynamic Navigation with Options which is the same as the previous level but adds a 6.6 kW charging cable that almost halves the charging time.

Finally, at the top of the list is the $ 5,345 Premium Package which includes everything below along with almost every other option available in Prime, including a head-up display, a panoramic roof, a 360-degree surround camera , leather seats, adaptive headlights, foot-activated tailgate, and parking assist.
