Many Toyota enthusiasts already know the equity behind the TRD badge to see brands of hardcore, off-road-ready pickups and SUVs. However, baja conquest is just one of the many feats that TRD vehicles have won across the motoring spectrum. Now TRD brings track tuning to sedans that combine greater agility, accuracy and body control with a attention-grabring design and everyday handling.

When Toyota introduced the next generation 2018 Camry, sales of sports versions of the SE and XSE increased. These models are stylish and fun to drive. And Toyota pushes the limit even further with the Camry TRD, with greater track-inspired driving performance and styling. This model includes all the standard camry SE content combined with exclusive TRD chassis enhancements and tuning.

Roaring go

The new Camry TRD embodies the TRD’s holistic approach to vehicle improvement. Remarkably, it is powered by Toyota’s renowned 301 horsepower DOHC 3.5-liter V6 and 8AT with sports mode and paddle shifting. The V6 breathes more easily with a specially tuned double exhaust with cat backs, giving both models quieter idling and acceleration.

“Track-tuned” means exactly that. TRD engineers have developed dynamic properties through extensive tests at the Toyota Arizona Proving Ground, TMC Higashi-Fuij Proving Ground (Japan) and MotorSport Ranch (Texas).

Calty gave this model striking aero elements, using a sharper design of the next generation Camry and an aggressive stance of the TRD-modified chassis. The aerodynamic body set, which includes a front splitter, side aero skirt, spoiler trunk lid and rear diffuser, combines a bold styling element and improves the stability of a high-speed vehicle to help the driver trust. Add that with red stripes, red painted brake calipers, and red TRD badging and both sedans have a road-hungry look.

The Camry TRD will continue to provide all the quality, reliability and reliability that is synonymous with Toyota. By default, the Toyota Safety Sense-P, a set of advanced driver assistance technologies, meets the fluctuations among these pre-wheels.

With this new TRD, the matte black alloy wheels are 19 x 8.5 inches wide, but 3.1 lbs lighter (each) than the 19 x 8.0 inch alloy wheels in the XSE class. Coupled with standard Bridgestone Potenza 235/40R19 summer tyres, this combination reduces unsprung weight, increases lateral grip and speeds up response to the swivel arm.

The stronger incarnation barrier increases torsional rigidity and unique coil springs reduce the vehicle by 0.6 inches to reduce the center of gravity. Specially tuned shock absorbers complement the suspension, which improves body control, control agility and steering accuracy. The front brakes are larger with 12.9 inch rotors and two-piston calipers compared to the 12.0-inch rotors and single-piston calipers found in XSE classes. The braking power has also been tuned to provide more direct feedback corresponding to the vehicle’s athletic dynamics.

The Camry chassis is further enhanced by stiffer coil springs and front/rear swaying rods for increased tilt stiffness by 44% at the front and 67% at the rear. To complement the changes to the spring, a unique TRD shock set has been developed to control the vertical movement of the vehicle and the ride while driving on the road.

In addition to the TRD aerodynamic lure, the Camry TRD has a unique shiny black front grille with a sports mesh insert and black external badging. Available colors include suitably dramatic supersonic red, Windchill Pearl, Celestial Silver Metallic – all three are two-tone – and Midnight Black Metallic. Polished stainless steel trd exhaust tip on the catback exhaust to complete the outer makeover.

Inside, the Camry TRD driver will see a red – in the upholstery, that is. The cab is decorated with Black Sport SofTex front seats® fabric inserts, red accents and embroidered head restraints with red TRD stitches. The leather steering wheel also has red stitching and even the seat belts are red. Shift button with embossed TRD logo, along with unique trd floor and trunk mats, and TRD MID visual start until cabin upgrades complete.
