2020 Toyota Camry TRD Price and Redesign – Again, Toyota is bringing its race pedigree to the road, as it features the Camry TRD and the Avalon TRD, two sedans with appetite for curves and a clear note of exhaust loaded with attitude. With the improved aerodynamic style of Calty, the U.S. design studio Of Toyota, and the performance of the chassis strengthened by Toyota’s racing development (TRD), these revolutionary models of Camry and Avalon are the track-tuned sedans that enthusiasts have been asking for.
Many Toyota enthusiasts already know the fairness behind the TRD insignia that you see on the brand’s strongest vans and SUV’s. However, conquering the Baja is just one of the many feats won by TRD vehicles across the spectrum of motor sports. Now, TRD brings its track tune to the sedans that combine greater agility, precision and body control with a design that draws attention and daily driving ability.
When Toyota introduced the new-generation Camry 2018, the sales of the sports versions WERE and XSE were shot. A year later, Toyota presented the new Avalon 2019, which first arrived in the category XSE available. These sedans are elegant and fun to handle. And Toyota is pushing the boundary even further with Camry TRD and Avalon TRD, both with higher performance and track-inspired handling style. These models include all the standard content of the Camry SE grade and the Avalon XSE grade, combined with exclusive TRD chassis enhancements and adjustments.
The new Toyota Camry TRD and the Avalon TRD embody TRD’s holistic approach to vehicle improvement. It should be noted that both are driven by the famous VH 3.5-litre DOHC 301 hp Toyota 8-liter sport mode and shift levers. The V6 breathes more easily with a specially tuned cat-back double exhaust, which provides both models with slower sound and acceleration.
“Track-tuned ” means exactly that. TRD’s engineers developed dynamic features through extensive testing at Toyota Arizona proving Ground, TMC Higashi-Fuij proving Ground (Japan) and MotorSport Ranch (Texas).
The thickest reinforcements in the bottom of the bodywork increase torsional stiffness and the unique helical springs reduce both vehicles by 0.6 inches for a reduced center of gravity. The specially-tuned shock absorbers and the 19 x 8.5-inch matte black alloy rims complete a suspension package that improves body control, handling agility and steering accuracy. The front brakes are larger with 12.9-inch diameter rotors and double-piston calipers compared to 12.0-inch rotors and single-piston calipers found in XSE grades. The performance of the brakes was also adjusted to provide more direct feedback, which coincides with the sport dynamics of the vehicle.
Calty provided both models with surprising aerodynamic elements, taking advantage of the latest designs of the new generation of Camry and Avalon and the aggressive posture of the modified chassis with TRD. The aerodynamic body kit, which includes the front splitter, aero side skirts, boot flap and rear diffuser, combines a bold styling element and improves the stability of the vehicle at high speed to help the confidence of the Driver. In the Toyota Camry TRD, the 19 x 8.5 inch alloy rims in matte black are half an inch wider, but 3.1 pounds lighter (each) than the 19 x 8.0 inch alloy rims in the XSE grade. Combined with the Bridgestone Potenza 235/40R19 Standard summer tyres, this combination reduces the unsprung mass, increases the side grip and accelerates the turn response.
The Camry chassis has been further enhanced with stiffer coil springs and front/rear stabilizer bars for increased 44% roller stiffness at the front and 67% at the rear. To complement the spring changes, a unique set of TRD shock absorbers was developed to control the vertical and rolling movement of the vehicle while maintaining the quality of TRD driving on the road.
In addition to the features of TRD’s aero body, the Camry TRD has a unique black glossy front grille with sports mesh insert and a black exterior insignia. Available colors include the appropriately dramatic supersonic red, Windchill Pearl, Celestial Silver Metallic (the three are two-tone) and Midnight Black Metallic. The TRD exhaust tips of polished stainless steel in the exhaust catback complete the external image change.
Inside, the driver of the Toyota Camry TRD will see red, in the setting, that is. The cabin is adorned with front seats upholstered in Black Sport SofTex® with fabric inserts, red details and headrests embroidered in red TRD. The leather-lined steering wheel also has red seams, and even the seat belts are red. A change knob with a embossed TRD logo, along with the unique TRD floor and boot mats, and a visual start TRD MID complete cabin upgrades.
The modifications of TRD work with the same magic in the Avalon as in the Camry. The Toyota Avalon TRD has Black Sport heated front seats SofTex trimmed with ultra suede inserts and red accents. It also features embroidered headrests with Red TRD, a leather-lined steering wheel with red seams, red seatbelts, a change knob with a embossed TRD logo and unique TRD floor and floor mats.
The matte black alloy rims 19 x 8.5 inches reduce 18 pounds of unsprung dough compared to 19-inch rims in the Avalon XSE 2019. As in Camry TRD, the unbridled tone of the 301 hp V6 bellows through the stainless steel TRD exhaust tips. Visually, we expect the base-style of the Toyota Camry 2020 to remain the same. This should not cause any fuss, as the model has just gone through a complete redesign that has received many accolades. The biggest visual change in alignment will be the Camry TRD 2020, which is to win new 19-inch matte black rims that are 3.1 pounds lighter each; An aero package with front divider, side skirts, trunk flap and rear diffuser; Brake calipers painted red and TRD distinctive; A bright black grille with sports mesh; Black insignia; and TRD polished exhaust tips.

Without structural changes in the works, we expect the power train department to stay the same. If this is true, the Toyota Camry 2020 will come standard with a four-cylinder, 2.5-liter engine that produces 203 horsepower and 184 lb/ft of torque. Optionally, buyers can add a 3.5-liter V6 engine that generates 301 hp and 267 lb/ft of torque. These gasoline-only engines will be paired with an automatic eight-speed transmission that sends power to the front wheels.
Shoppers looking for more savings will still have the Camry Hybrid to satisfy that itch. We expect you to combine a four-cylinder, 2.5-liter engine with an electric motor to produce 208 hp. While this will not be as fun to handle as the V6 engine model, it offers an excellent fuel economy that rises to 51 miles per gallon in city, 53 on the road and 52 on the current Camry Hybrid.
The Camry TRD 2020 will feature the 301 HP V6 3.5-liter engine, but win a cat-back exhaust system for a bad growl and tons of driving improvements. The latter includes new stabilizer bars and helical springs for 44 percent more front stiffness at the front and 67 percent more stiffness back, a lower height of 0.6 inches, wider 0.5-inch wheels with rubber plus Sticky and front brake rotors larger than 0.9 inches by double-piston pliers.
The Toyota Camry 2019 is one of the safest sedans on the road today thanks to its standard Toyota Safety Sense P, which includes automatic emergency braking, lane change warning, Lane maintenance assistance, automatic headlight lights High and adaptive cruise control. The official price is not available yet, but outside of the TRD model, we do not expect major changes in its current range of MSRP from $24.765 to $35.520 (destination rates included). We expect the Camry TRD 2020 to deliver a few thousand dollars more than the XSE V6 model.
