2019 Toyota Supra Concept Price Review – Toyota is developing the rear-wheel drive platform for the SUPRA with BMW, and one of the advantages of this association is the access to a soft and direct power. In Goodwood, Toyota confirmed that the Supra will have an online six. The chief engineer has insisted that the SUPRA will come so equipped.
Specifications have not yet been confirmed, but we found documents from the ZF transmission provider that indicate that the Supra six will offer 335 hp. This is the B58B30 unit of 3.0 liters of a single turbo of BMW, the same one that one finds in the M240i and in many other cars of the German brand.
These ZF documents also indicate that the SUPRA will also have a four-cylinder option. Specifically, the 2.0-liter BMW turbocharged with B48B20 code name, which will produce 262 hp. Toyota has been reluctant to confirm this engine, but in Goodwood, he told us it is a reality. He noted that this engine is lighter and offers better weight distribution, and is the perfect platform for engine changes as it is cheaper. So, if you’re going to put a 2JZ on this new SUPRA, it starts with the four-cylinder.
Toyota re-entered the rear-wheel drive sport game with the 86 (née Scion FR-S) at 2012, and now has something more ambitious in the works. Something that fans have long waited for, a new Supra.
We have known for a long time that Toyota was developing a new sports car in collaboration with BMW, but at the Geneva Motor Show 2018, the good news was confirmed with the GR Supra Racing concept. Then, in Goodwood, Toyota showed a Supra camouflaged production nearby, promising to continue with a long tradition of rear-wheel drive, sports cars with six cylinders in line.
Then we have to drive a pre-production prototype in Spain. While the car still wore camouflage inside and out, it gave us a great idea of what to expect from the next Supra. Read all about it here.
However, there are still many unknowns. So here, we’ve compiled what we know about the Supra 2019, based on our conversations with the people of Toyota, plus some of the most credible rumors we’ve heard.
This has been a secret to voices in the automotive world, even Toyota admits it, but now it is officially confirmed. Toyota tweeted today that the SUPRA 2020 will finally make its debut at the Detroit Auto Show next January. We can’t wait
The triumphant return of the Supra, which was presented by the FT-1 concept car there by 2014, is almost imminent. The car is a joint engineering company with BMW, which will use the platform for the revival of its sporty Z4. Available only as a coupe, the Supra will feature BMW B58 turbocharged on-line, with six horsepower. With rear-wheel drive and an eight-speed automatic transmission, you can expect a zero time at 60 mph of less than five seconds. We expect SUPRA production to reach dealerships in the mid-2019, starting around $50.000.
